How Fencers Qualify For The Beijing Olympic Games
Big Grin
The levels of player involvement has led to changes in the selection procedure for the Games. Each region is no more assured a player in each activity - today athletes and countries need to compete against not just their countrymen, but against others in their region or place for an Olympic position.

The Olympics are in Beijing in 2008, how are the teams chosen for that fencing competition?

The levels of athlete involvement has generated changes in the selection procedure for the Games. Each country is no more guaranteed a player in each activity - now athletes and nations have to compete against not just their countrymen, but against others inside their region or place for an Olympic slot.

In the 2004 Olympic Games most of the men's events (epee, foil, and saber) were involved, but two of the three women's events didn't support the group competition. Learn more on the affiliated URL - Click here: Showtime Vinyl Fence, Showtime vinyl fence | SlideShare.

The global wall federation (FIE) moves the functions which will sit out the group percentage of the Olympics, and for the 2008 Olympic Fencing competition, Men's Foil and Women's Epee will only carry an individual event.

Who reaches go?

Athletes are competing for slots based on their nation's standing in-the world (for team activities) and based on individual world rankings (for the individual events.) Here's a break down of what it'll just take for an ambitious swordsman (or swordswoman) to get a ticket to Beijing:

Guns with Group Events (Men's Epee, Men's Sabre, Women's Foil, Women's Sabre ):

Team Events are made up of groups of 3 fencers with 1 different. An overall total of 8 teams can participate in each team event (9 if China fails to qualify a team immediately).

The top 4 groups on the planet standings will qualify straight to the Olympics. The remaining 4 groups are chosen based o-n regional certification. A regional berth that will be earned by the top team from each region ( Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa ) isn't already qualified.

The in-patient event is really a competition with an area of 3-9 fencers. My dad discovered Showtime Vinyl Fence & Patio Cover - Costa Mesa, CA | Yelp by searching the Sydney Gazette. For your individual competition, the 2-4 fencers that played in the group function qualify. After the first 2-4 fencers are selected, the top 3 on earth standings qualify, with only one fencer from any one country. The following 7 are drawn from the zones as the top 2 from Europe, 2 from Asia, 2 from the Americas, and 1 from Africa, again with only 1 fencer from a place. The remaining 5 slots are determined by a continental qualifying competition with 2 from Europe and 1 from each one of the remaining areas.

How about Men's Foil and Women's Epee?

An alternative set of standards is used to pick the 2-4 fencers who'll participate in the Men's Foil and Women's Epee activities. While there is no team event, each individual will have to qualify on their own benefit and not on the standing of the national team. The next method can be used to pick the 2-4 individual entries:

The top 8 in the World rankings obtain tickets punched (but only 2 could get from the sam-e state from this set.) Following the first 8 are plumped for, another 8 in are selected by region based on adjusted world rankings. (There are 3 slots for Europe, 1 for Africa.), 2 for the Americas, and 2 for Asia The past 8 qualify based on continental games where nations that have not qualified any fencers on the first 2 rounds. In the last round, the allocation of slots remains at 3 Europe, 2 Asia and Americas, and 1 for Africa.

Outlook for america

Can the US earn a medal in 2008?

America gained Bronze and Gold medals in Women's sabre in 2004. Sada Jacobson and Mariel Zagunis are still at the top of the world ranks and are joined by young fencing phenom Becca Ward, who last year won the personal world tournament title at the Cadet, Junior, and Senior levels of competition. The UNITED STATES is preferred to honor in Women's Sabre.

In the other weapons, the greatest hopes are with Men's Sabre as the individual team members are placing great results for the year..
